Description

A stunning gravity formed vessel, the inside is glossy and has turquoise ‘islands’ surrounded by veining that ranges from yellow through to orange.  The reaction between the turquoise and the yellow and orange glass makes a beautifully fine brown line edging to each island. The outside of the vessel has a layer of yellow transparent glass which turns the islands a lime green, it has been sandblasted and sealed to give a gorgeous matt surface.  These vessels require multiple firings, firstly to achieve the decoration and then the final form is made by having the glass drop through a ring mold suspended in the kiln.  The exciting bit is trimming off the rim, after that the vessel is ground to give  a matt surfaced rim to the piece.

The vessel is 16.8cm in diameter across the rim and stands 12cm tall.
