Description
A vibrant gravity formed vessel, the outside has green and red stripes and is matt. The inside has an olive green background decorated with multi-coloured polka dots and is glossy. These dots are round at the bottom of the piece and gradually stretch more as they go up the side of the vessel to the rim. I happen to be a fan of SciFi and this reminds me of the sort of pictures shown when a space ship starts to move faster, hence the name of the series. These vessels require multiple firings, firstly to achieve the decoration and then the final form is made by having the glass drop through a ring mold suspended in the kiln. The exciting bit is trimming off the rim, after that the vessel is ground to give a matt surfaced rim to the piece. The rim on this one is asymmetrical, with a gentle slope to it.
The vessel is 16.8cm in diameter across the rim and stands 11cm tall at the highest part.
